Adding to what God says

Gen 2: 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of eery tree of the garden thou mayest feely eat:
:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We nay eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, nether shall you touch it, lest ye die.

Now you know the whole story about them eating it anyway and because of that they were thrown out of the garden. And sin entered the world.

But I find it interesting that Eve added to what God had told them. Did you catch it? God told them not to eat, but Eve said not to touch it or eat it. Isn't like humans to want to add to what God says?

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in tis book:
:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are in this book.

No wonder they were in so much trouble. Not only were they in disobedience, but Eve added to God's words, that could be considered lying too cause God didn't say that.

We must be very careful when we repeat what God says to not add or take away anything in the process.

Also in the story it says God called out to them, where are you. Now we all know that God knew exactly what had happened and where they were. But I think He was giving them a chance to admit (repent) to what they had done. What a gracious God He is to even then give them a chance to own up to their sin.

There was still a price they had to pay. And we have to pay the price for our sins also. But we know the rest of the story. That He sent Jesus to pay the ultimate price for us.
