Genesis 29 and 30

Whenever you feel like you are not good enough for God to use, remember the story of Jacob that is told here. You know the story, he goes to Laban and works for Leah and Rachael, and yes Laban was very wrong to trick him. Then toward the end when Jacob wants to leave, Jacob starts breeding the good stock for himself and the weak stock for Laban. Not a very Christ like thing to do if you ask me. But God went on to do great things through Jacob. So never feel like God can't use you because of something in your past. When the devil reminds you of your past, tell him you are forgiven and remind him of his future.

Exodus 32:35 And the Lord plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

EX 33:1 And the Lord said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Issac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it;
:2 And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Cannaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
:3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a still necked people : lest I consume thee in the way.
:4 And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.

Ok I am supposed to tag 5 people... well how about this... if you would like to do this do it and post here that you did so I can go check out the post.

HI

Sorry I have been missing but I have been ill for 3 weeks.

This morning I was reading in Genesis 28. You are familiar with the story. Jacob steals Esau's blessing and his mom has his dad send him off to her brother for a wife so that Esau won't kill him when his dad dies. Read what Jacob says at the end of chapter 28.

20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: 22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

Did you catch what Jacob is saying? Have you noticed it before? He is saying basically, God if You do this, this and that, for ME then You will be my God. Hmmm, have you ever done that?

What if it wasn't God's will to do what Jacob wanted? Would he have stopped worshiping God? What if God doesn't do what you tell Him to do so that you will serve Him? Is that what we are doing when we say something like that?

Just some things to think about today.

Lord please help me to serve and worship You whether You do what I want You to do or not. Don't let my worship of You be based on what You will do for me but be based on what You did for me on the cross.
