The Way That We Should Walk # 2 – What Should We Do

Jer 42:1 Now all the captains of the forces, Johanan the son of Kareah, Jezaniah the son of Hoshaih, and all the people, from the least to the greatest, came near
:2 and said to Jeremiah the prophet, “Please, let our petition be acceptable to you, and pray for us to the Lord your God, for all this remnant (since we are left but a few of many, as you can see),
:3 that the Lord you God may show us the way in which we should walk and the thing we should do.”

  1. Lord, which way should we go?
  2. What should we do?

Acts 17:27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
:28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said,'For we are also His offspring.'
:29 Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising.
:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
:31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

We should “feel” Jesus as a blind person feels an object to determine what it is.

Rom 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His,

Lk 3:7 Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

Fruit means evidence, proof.

Lk 3:11 He answered and said to them, “He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”

Share what you have.

Lk 3:13 And he said to them, “ Collect no more than what is appointed for you.”

Charge what you should and no more.

Lk 3:14 Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?” So he said to them, “Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”

Do violence to no man, accuse no one falsely, be content with your wages.

Lk 18:22 So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

Don't let money be a god to you.

Jesus gave the message he needed to hear not what he wanted to hear.

Jn 6:28 Then they said to Him, “ What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

The works of God is for you to believe on Jesus Christ.

Believe means trusting, relying on, depending on, being obedient to Christ.

Do you listen to what Jesus tells you to do and then do it?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 9:6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”

Acts 16:31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Lk 11:1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

Jesus did nothing without hearing from God.

Do we really want to hear what God has to say about our situation? Are we willing to obey?

Jer 42:7 And it happened after ten days that the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah.
:8 Then he called Johanan the son of Kareah, all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,
:9 and said the them, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition before Him:
:10'If you will still remain in this land, then I will build you and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not pluck you up. For I relent concerning the disaster that I have brought upon you.
:11 Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; do not be afraid of him,' says the Lord, 'for I am with you, to save you and deliver you from his hand.
:12 And I will show you mercy, that he may have mercy on you and cause you to return to your own land.'
:13”But if you say, 'We will not dwell in this land,' disobeying the voice of the Lord your God,
:14 saying, “No, but we will go to the land of Egypt where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor be hungry for bread, and there we will dwell' -
:15 Then hear now the word of the Lord, O remnant of Judah! Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: 'If you wholly set your faces to enter Egypt, and go to dwell there,

Jeremiah told the people what God told him, to be where He told them to be, do what He told them to then God would take care of them. If you don't then you are forsaking God and no longer under God's care and protection.

Heb 3:18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?
