1 Cor 12:4 There are diversities of
gifts, but the same Spirit.
:5 There are differences of ministries,
but the same Lord.
:6 And there are diversities of
activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit
is given to each one for the profit of all:
:10 to another the working of miracles,
to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another
different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
Prophesy means divinely or Godly
inspiration, utterance, concerns past, present and future.
Speaking forth the mind and counsel of
God.
God gives the gifts to whosoever He
will.
Just because God gives you (or someone
else) a prophesy doesn't mean they are a prophet.
Songs, poems, exhortations,
admonitions, warnings, teachings call all bring forth prophesy,
Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass
afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and
your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your
young men shall see visions.
1 Thess 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit.
:20 Do not despise prophecies.
This may be the reason if you have
gotten a prophesy and not shared it.
1 Thess 5:21 Test all things; hold fast
what is good.
Judge the prophecy.
1 Cor 14:1 Pursue love, and desire
spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
Num 11:26 But two men had remained in
the camp; the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad.
Eldad means God has love.
Medad means beloved friend.
Moses said he wished that ALL could
prophesy.
Is 1:16 “Wash yourselves, make
yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My
eyes. Cease to do evil,
:17 learn to do good; seek justice,
rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow
This was exhortation.
:18 “Come now, and let us reason
together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson,
they shall be as wool,
Here he was encouraging them.
:19 If you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
:20 but if you refuse and rebel, you
shall be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has
spoken,
This was about the future and a
warning.
Isaiah dealt with past, present and
future.
God always gives His people a choice –
He doesn't FORCE you to do anything.
Is 14:24 The Lord of hosts has sworn,
saying, “Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, and
as I have purposed, so it shall stand:
:27 For the Lord of hosts has purposed,
and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn
it back?”
Deut 30:15 “See, I have set before
you today life and good, death and evil,
:16 in that I command you today to love
the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments,
His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and
the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
:17 But if your heart turns away so
that you do not hear, and are drawn away and worship other gods and
serve them,
:18 I announce to you today that you
shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land
which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.
:19 I call heaven and earth as
witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and
death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and
your descendants may live;
Throughout the bible God gives choices.
Josh 24:15 And if it seems evil to you
to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will
serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the
other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land
you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Deut 28 gives choices and consequences.
Blessings and curses.
Rev 1:3 Blessed is he who reads and
those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things
which are written in it; for the time is near.
:4 John, to the seven churches which
are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and was and who
is to come from the seven Spirits who are before His throne.
Revelation is the greatest prophecy
ever.
Rev 1:9 I, John, both your brother and
companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus
Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God
and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
We know the gospel because one man was
obedient and spoke out what God told him to.
If you have the Holy Spirit you are
eligible for the gift of prophecy.
Acts 19:1 And it happened, while
Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper
regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples
:2 he said to them, “Did you receive
the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have
not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”
:3 And he said to them, “Into what
then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John's baptism.”
:4 Then Paul said, “John indeed
baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they
should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ
Jesus.”
:5 When they heard this, they were
baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
:6 And when Paul had laid hands on
them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and
prophesied.
1 Cor 14:39 Therefore, brethren, desire
earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.
1 Cor 14:29 Let two or three prophets
speak, and let the others judge.
Let things be done in order.
1 Cor 14:33 For God is not the author
of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
1 Cor 14:40 Let all things be done
decently and in order.
