Abraham

This morning I read Genesis 22 and 23. Chapter 22 is the story of God telling Abraham to sacrifice Issac. We all know the story.

Do you remember in verse 7-8 where Issac asks Abraham about the lamb for the sacrifice? Abraham answered that God would supply the sacrifice. Yet when they got there God required Abraham to actually bind Issac and raise the knife before He stopped him. Abraham trusted that if God allowed him to sacrifice Issac God would restore life to him somehow. That is total trust in God isn't it? Do I trust God that much? Do you?

It is really hard in the midst of something to totally trust God sometimes. But do we have a choice? Did Abraham? Not if Abraham wanted the promise God had given him. And if we want the promises that God has given to us we don't either do we?
