James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Here are the notes I have in my bible by this verse.
Draw = pray, hands = mind, hearts, purify = repentance and confession
2 Tim 3:7 Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
The word says in John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
So this tells me I must be careful that in learning I come to know the truth, and not just learn for learnings sake.
I know someone who can quote you chapter and verse probably of the whole bible. She has a photographic memory and if she reads something it is there forever. But none of it is in her heart. She doesn't live the truth. She doesn't really know the truth. Just the words. I think maybe that is what 2 Tim 3:7 is talking about.
Ps 145:18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him in truth.
I pray that we each call upon Him in truth. With an open willing heart to really learn the truth from Him. For He is truth.
On a side note today I read genesis 1 & 2. Think about creation. God spoke everything into creation, yet He formed man and woman and gave them His breath. Ever wonder why we speak and animals don't? It is because we are created in His image and have His breath. We should never use that breath to curse our Lord and Savior. It is a privilege that we can speak. We must be careful how we use that privilege.
