Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
I recently became part of the Women's Ministry Leadership Team at the church I am attending. Tonight we have the first get together that I am involved with as part of the team.
This is my heart behind joining it. To fellowship and encourage each other in our growth in the Lord. I think it is important that we have spiritual growth in our busy lives as women. It is easy to say that we get that on Sundays, or during the week if we attend a service. But women have different needs then men, including our spiritual needs. We are called in Titus 2:3 the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things-- 4 that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
How will the older women teach the younger if we don't spend time with them? I want us to have fun, but most of all I want us to grow in the Lord. The younger women have much to teach older women (one of which I am) also. We can learn and grow together. Iron sharpens iron. But if you are never sharpened you will grow dull and not be very productive for God. Ever tried to use a dull knife? You can cut with it (including yourself ouch!) but it won't do a good job. And it makes the job a lot harder.
So let's spend time with other women sharpening each other, but let's remember to have fun also together.
