The Ministering Gifts of the Holy Spirit to the Church # 2

1 Cor 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:
:2 you know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.
:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
:4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
:5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.
:6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

Why is the Holy Spirit so important to the church?

Acts 1:4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “ which,” He said, “ you have heard from Me;”

Tongues are a known language somewhere on earth or in heaven. Just as people here have different languages people have different languages in tongues.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

1 Cor 14:5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

This is not saying that prophesy is better than tongues but that tongues need to be interpreted so others can understand.

Lk 12:26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?

Jn 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Jn 16:12 I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

He said this because they didn't have the Holy Spirit yet.

Bear means to endure, declare, carry, to take up. The Greek Lexicon says have a full understanding of what He is speaking of and the ability to receive calmly.

Acts 7:51” You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

Jn 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come,
:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
:15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”

Jesus said the Holy Spirit would:

  1. Speak to you
  2. Show you things to come.

Do we want to hear? Do we want to see? Do we want to recognize the truth?

Rev 2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”

God knows people have 2 ears. He was speaking about your inner ear.

Rom 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Do you hear what you read?

Eyes speak. They tell you what you see.

Acts 14:15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,
:16 who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.
:17 Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

Ps 19:1 May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you;
:2 may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion;
:3 may He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah

There is no speech or language where God is not heard.

The things God created are telling about Him.

Matt 5:45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven, for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Rom 1:19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law
:13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;
:14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,
:15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them)
The people have the law in their hearts, that's how Cain knew he had done wrong.

Jn 1:9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
:19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
:21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
:23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man – and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
:24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,
:25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather then the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
:26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.

Num 11:26 But two men had remained in the camp; the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp.
:27 And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, “ Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”
:28 So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, one of this choice men, answered and said, “Moses my lord, forbid them!”

:29 Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the Lord's people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!”

The Ministering Gifts of the Holy Spirit to the Church # 1

Just as a newborn baby in the natural needs to be taken care of until it grows/ matures enough to be able to grow on their own, so does a baby christian until they are full grown.

God provides for His children just as parents take care (well are supposed to) of their children.

Eph 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,

Eph 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
:4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,
:5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;
:7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching;
:8 he who exhots, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

1 Cor 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant.

1 Cor 12:8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit.
:9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,
:10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
:11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

1 Cor 12:28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.

1 Tim 4:14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.

2 Tim 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Denial

2 Tim 2:12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He also will deny us;
:13 if we are faithless, He remains faithful – for He cannot deny Himself.
:14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers.
:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
:16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness.

Deny, denial means rejection of your petition, disclaim, renounce, recant, repudiate, one's refusal to acknowledge or recognize something.

There is a good and a bad aspect of denial.

Gen 18:9 They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “ She is in the tent.”
:10 The Lord said, “ I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him.
:11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah.
:12 So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?”
:13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, “Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?”
:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
:15 But Sarah denied it, saying, “ I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.

When Sarah lied to protect herself she placed herself above God. You place yourself above God when you lie and make yourself an idol.

Gen 3:22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever -”
:23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.
:24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.

God denied Adam and Eve the tree of life because of their sin. Adam and Eve denied God's order when they ate the fruit.

Every man has the rights to the tree of life through Jesus. Not all men chose to take that right.

Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.
:30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
:31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
:32 So everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven,
:33 but whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny before My Father who is in heaven.
:34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
:36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.
:37 Whoever loves father or mother more then Me is not worthy of Me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
:38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.
:39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
:22 On that day many will say to Me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and cast out demons in Your name, and do many mighty works in Your name?
:23 And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.”

Lk 13:24 Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
:25 When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us, then He will answer you, I do not know where you come from.
:26 Then you will be to say, We ate and drank in Your presence, and you taught in our streets.
:27 But He will say, I tell you, I do not know where you come from, depart from Me, all you workers of evil.

Jn 7:27 But we know where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where He comes from.

1 Peter 4:11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies – in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

We need to speak the same thing that God says. Jesus said He would protect, heal, provide, preserve. He was faithful, you can put your trust and faith in Jesus.

Lk 9:23 And He said to all, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.

We must deny ourselves daily. It's hard to deny our flesh if we are in the flesh.

Remember Lot's wife. She was taken out of sin, was on her way to total deliverance, total salvation, she denied both and was denied life. She kept looking back to what was.

Lk 9:62 Jesus said to him, “ No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but they deny Him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

We must be mindful that we don't say we know God, but act like the world who doesn't know God. Our words, and actions should be different.

The Immutability of God

Heb 6:10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
:11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end,
:12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
:13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,
:14 saying, “ Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.”
:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
:16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute.
:17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath,
:18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
:19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,
:20 where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizdek.

Immutability means no change.

If God is immutable it means there is NO change in God.

Mal 3:6 For I am the Lord, I do not change, therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

Jesus, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Man is ever changing.

Num 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Is 14:24 The Lord of hosts has sworn, saying, “ Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, and as I have purposed, so it shall stand:

Is 14:27 For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?”

Walk in the word that you know.

Heb 6:17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath,
:18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

His promise and His oath are 2 immutable things.

Promise = law term = summons upon/ proclaim or announce.

God's promises come with conditions.

Oath means enclosure, confinement, limit. Root is same as root word for fence.

Confines God to do exactly what He said He will do.

Ps 89:33 Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail.

Is 62:6 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent.

Heb 3:10 Therefore I was angry with that generation, and said, “They always go astray in their heart, and they have not known My ways.”
:11 So I swore in My wrath, “They shall not enter My rest.”

Heb 3:18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?

If you don't believe God made a promise you will not enter into His rest.

Gen 22:15 Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven,
:16 and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son -
:17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.
:18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

  1. Have we been obedient to what the word tells us to do? Or have we made excuses? Phil 2:3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better then himself.
  2. Are you sowing? Mal 3:8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, “In what way have we robbed You?” In tithes and offerings. Tithe is not a new testament principle. Offering is.
Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Hosea 8:7 “They sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind, the stalk has no bud; it shall never produce meal. If it should produce, aliens will swallow it up.
  1. What is God's promise about your need? What is God's condition?
God has given us His promise no matter what our needs are. But we must be obedient to His word.

Strength in Weakness

Matt 26:36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.”
:37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.
:38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
:39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
:41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Heb 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Its all in Jesus but we do have a responsibility. We must deny self. Our weaknesses go into remission and then they resurface.

2 Cor 12:5 Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities.

Infirmities means weaknesses.

In my weaknesses I am strong (Christ in me).

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Rom 15:1 We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

2 cor 1:4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Cor 13:4 For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.

Heb 11:32-And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets:
:33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
:34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Ps 6:1 O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger, nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
:2 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
:3 My soul also is greatly troubled; but You, O Lord, - how long?
:4 Return, O Lord, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies' sake!
:5 For in death there is no remembrance of You; in the grave who will give You thanks?

1 Cor 1:26 For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
:27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
:28 and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,

1 Cor 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption -
:31 that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”

Rom 5:6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Neh 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Hab 3:19 The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.

Joel 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, “ I am strong.”

Rev 3:8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no once can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

Rev 3:10 Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the eart.

Are we still watching?

Are we still watching?

Mark 13:32 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
:33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.
:34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.
:35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming – in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning -
:36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.
:37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

God tells us 4 times right here to be watching for God's return.

Watch for Jesus. Watch our walking with the Lord as we watch for Jesus.

2 Pet 3:1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder),
:2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,
:3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
:4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
:5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,
:6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

Matt 24:42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
:43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
:44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
:45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, who his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?
:46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.

Watch has several words it is taken from.

  1. gregoreo means keep awake, to be spiritually alert. Gregory means watcher
  2. tereo means to keep and observe
  3. agrupneo means to be sleepless, to chase sleep, to chase away spiritual sleep

Heb 10:36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you many receive the promise:
:37 “For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry.

Rev 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Remember 2,000 years is as two days to the Lord.

Heb 9:28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Wait with an expectation.

Matt 24:43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.

1 Pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Sober means saved, have a saved sound mind. Have your mind free of intoxicants.

Be watchful. Vigilance means watchful.

The devil begins by tempting you in the mind.

2 Cor 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.

Deut 4:9 Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren,

Ps 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

Ps 34:13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.

Ps 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Pr 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Pr 13:3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
Pr 21:23Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

Matt 26:41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

1 Cor 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

1 Cor 16:13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.

Col 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

Titus 2:12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

Watching and discernment go hand in hand.

Matt 25:13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Lk 12:37 Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.

1 Thess 5:5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

Rev 3:11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.

Rev 16:15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief., Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”

Is 3:17 Therefore the Lord will strike with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will uncover their secret parts,”

The Word of God

The Word of God

Is 62:6 I have set watchmen on your wall, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night.
You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent.
:7 and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

2 Pet 1:12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.
:13 Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you.

2 Pet 3:1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder),

1 Tim 4:6 If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.

1 Cor 4:17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.

Phil 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.

We have everything available to us to make the first fruits rapture.

Jn 5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
:40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

The devil knows more of the Bible than most Christians. He tries to keep you from learning the Word. That's why you think of stuff to do, your mind wonders, etc. If you are aware of his tactics it is easier to fight him.

When you read you should hear. Your eyes see and “tell” your brain what they see.

2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Dividing means to cut out, to cut it out straight, to handle aright, to teach it just the way it is.

Jn 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

The bible has 66 books containing everything we need to know.

Matt 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matt 7:24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock;
:25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
:26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
:27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Sometimes you have to dig for the rock.
Word is both spoken or written. Both are the word of God.

Jn 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Jn 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Jn 8:47 He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear because you are not of God.”

Jn 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
:64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.
:65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
:66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
:67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
:68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

Many left, and didn't follow Him anymore.

Deut 8:3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord,.

Lk 4:8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.”

Job 23:12 I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.

Ps 119:103 How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Jer 15:16 Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.

Ps 107:20 He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

2 Pet 1:19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

Is 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Ps 119:130 The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

You must walk according to the light of the word.

Eph 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Ps 119:9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.

Ps 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might now sin against You.
1 Cor 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

Ps 119:107 I am afflicted very much; revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.

Rom 14:23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

You must speak the word in faith. If you don't is it sin?

1 Pet 4:11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Num 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He not said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Ps 119:89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.

Is 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.”

1 Pet 1:24 because “all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away,
:25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Mk 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Mt 5:18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

Lk 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.

Ps 138:2 I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

Rev 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Jer 1:12 Then the Lord said to me, “ You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”

In the King James version it says hasten to perform. Hasten means watch, give attention to.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God and they shall be My people.

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
