The Ministering Gifts of the Holy Spirit to the Church # 2

1 Cor 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:
:2 you know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.
:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
:4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
:5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.
:6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.
:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

Why is the Holy Spirit so important to the church?

Acts 1:4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “ which,” He said, “ you have heard from Me;”

Tongues are a known language somewhere on earth or in heaven. Just as people here have different languages people have different languages in tongues.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

1 Cor 14:5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless he interprets, that the church may receive edification.

This is not saying that prophesy is better than tongues but that tongues need to be interpreted so others can understand.

Lk 12:26 If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?

Jn 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Jn 16:12 I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

He said this because they didn't have the Holy Spirit yet.

Bear means to endure, declare, carry, to take up. The Greek Lexicon says have a full understanding of what He is speaking of and the ability to receive calmly.

Acts 7:51” You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

Jn 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come,
:14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
:15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”

Jesus said the Holy Spirit would:

  1. Speak to you
  2. Show you things to come.

Do we want to hear? Do we want to see? Do we want to recognize the truth?

Rev 2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.”

God knows people have 2 ears. He was speaking about your inner ear.

Rom 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Do you hear what you read?

Eyes speak. They tell you what you see.

Acts 14:15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,
:16 who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.
:17 Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

Ps 19:1 May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you;
:2 may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion;
:3 may He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah

There is no speech or language where God is not heard.

The things God created are telling about Him.

Matt 5:45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven, for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Rom 1:19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law
:13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;
:14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves,
:15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them)
The people have the law in their hearts, that's how Cain knew he had done wrong.

Jn 1:9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
:19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
:21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
:23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man – and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
:24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,
:25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather then the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
:26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.

Num 11:26 But two men had remained in the camp; the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp.
:27 And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, “ Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”
:28 So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, one of this choice men, answered and said, “Moses my lord, forbid them!”

:29 Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the Lord's people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!”
