The Whole Duty of Man

The Whole Duty of Man

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man's all.

God created us to live forever, by man's choice, we die. But because of Jesus, we can live forever again.

The born again believers need to fear God and keep His commandments.

The devil believes but is not born again.

Fear (Godly) means reverence, respect
New testament: caution, cautious, with Godly fear
Love and fear combined represents the piety of man toward God.

Old Testament places emphasis on fear but always has love in it
New Testament places emphasis on love always has fear in it
Is 8:13 The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.

Dread means fear, to tremble.

Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Lk 23:40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

Romans 11:20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear.

1 Peter 1:17 And if you call on Him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,

Deut 10:12 And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deut 13:4 You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.

Deut 12:28 Be careful to obey all these words that I command you, that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.

Deut 28:1 And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
:2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God.

Deut 28:15 But if you will not obey the voice of the Lord your God or be careful to do all His commandments and His statutes that I command you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you.

Jn 14:15 If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Jn 14:21 Whoever has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.

Jn 14:23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

2 Jn 1:6 And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.

Heb 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,

Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Heb 12:25 See that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject Him who warns from heaven.
:26 At that time His voice shook the earth, but now He has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”
:27 This phrase, “Yet once more, “ indicates the removal of things that are shaken – that is, things that have been made – in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.
:28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship with reverence and awe,
:29 for our God is a consuming fire.

To fear God and keep His commandments is the whole duty of man.
