Pr 16, Ps 4, 1 Sam 4

Pr 16

:1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue is from God.

Do the words you use come from God? Would He approve of them? If He prepares your heart they will. Remember:

MT 12:36 But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak they shall give account thereof in the day of judg ment.

:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.

Ever do something that on the outward appearance seems fine but in your heart you were rebelling about doing it? Well God sees that even if others don't.

:7 When a man's ways please the Lord He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Want peace?

:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Think you are better then someone else? Remember:

Col 3:25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done; and there is no respect of persons.

Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

If He will judge me for a sin, He will judge you also if you commit that sin.

Remember God sees what you do when no one else can see. He sees your heart so even if you are putting on a show for everyone else, you are not fooling God.

:20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good; and whoso trusteth in the Lord happy is he.

Want to be happy?

:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Does your way seem right to you? Have you asked God if it seems right to Him?

Ps 4

:2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn My glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? selah

According to the bible dictionary leasing means falsehood ; lies

Lord may I only bring glory to you and not shame.

1 Sam 4:

:4 Here it says that Eli's sons brought the ark to the battleground.

:11 Here it says that the ark of God was taken and Eli's sons slain.

Remember God told Samuel in chapter 3 that Eli's house would be judged because of his sons. I wonder why Eli allowed his sons to bring the ark. Seems like with him knowing (remember Samuel told him what the Lord said) that he wouldn't have let them touch the ark.

In the rest of Chapter 4 it tells how Eli and his daughter-in-law both died when they hear. His daughter-in-law was pregnant and gave birth to a son that was named Ichabod.

God said He would judge Eli's house, this is His judgment.

Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
